Goals:

Our goal at NHW is to instill in our students:

  • The love for life-long learning
  • The desire to be the "Best You Can Be"
  • The responsibility to be nice, polite, and respectful to everyone

Our Philosophy:

North Hopewell-Winterstown is based on a "family" atmosphere in which our staff, students, and parents work together toward a common goal of educating the children to their fullest potential.  We have 15 classrooms, K-6, including a primary learning support and an intermediate learning support classroom.  Our theme for the 2011-2012 school year is:

Welcome to North Hopewell-Winterstown Elementary
"A Place Where the NHW Family is Working Together to Make a Difference!"

Special Projects:

We continue a special project for this year which will be encouraging our grade 2 to 6 students participate in the web-based program titled 'Study Island."  Students can work on math and reading skills through this program directly in their homes and become more proficient on the PA state standards.  Each participating student will have the opportunity to earn "Brag Links" for their classrooms.  We hope that many NHW families will participate in this program at home that is available on their computers.  Also, we are excited to continue a K-6 writing program called "Four Square Writing" in hopes of having the students learn to be proficient and better writers. With the school district and NHW PTO's technology purchase of netbooks we continue to bring the use of technology alive directly in the classrooms as each student uses his/her laptop to enhance the learning potential.

PTO:

We are extremely fortunate to have an active and involved PTO at North Hopewell-Winterstown Elementary.  They have many exciting events planned including book fairs and various get-togethers throughout the year.  Our PTO is dedicated to the students and teachers at NHW.

Interesting Facts:

  • School mascot is the dragon.
  • School colors are red and white.
  • Student population is 288 students. (as of 9/11/11)
  • We have 46 staff members.
